Amelie Rennolds is an architect specializing in houses that are modern yet respectful of history. Ms. Rennolds creates designs for living - ranging from rural farmhouses to landmarked rowhouses with an occasional music venue, children’s preschool  and loft space in the mix. She believes the best projects are a happy collaboration between the designer, the client and the builder. Her timeless light-filled designs marry the user’s needs with the existing site: taking cues from the architectural context and maximizing orientation and views. The finished projects celebrate the “genius loci “or spirit of the place.
Now based in Virginia and New York, Ms. Rennolds grew up in Richmond, Virginia, studied in Italy, received a BA with honors from Wesleyan University followed by a Master of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design.
She worked as a project architect at Edward Larrabee Barnes Associates and Henry Myerberg Architects before starting her solo practice.
Travels in Japan, Scandinavia, and Italy have inspired a modern design sensibility infused with warmth. Ms. Rennolds has served on numerous non-profit boards whose missions focus on creating community.
Ms.Rennolds’ work has been featured in Architectural Record, At Home in the Hudson Valley, Creating the Artful Home and Better Homes and Gardens.
